Understanding Icons
Icons are little pictures that represent applications, files or folders. They can also be customized and are useful in remember certain applications or folders visually. The more familiar you become with icons the faster you will be able to use your computer. For example, the Safari icon is a blue compass, and this is what I will use to get to the internet. This stamp opens the Mail program, where you can get email. This CD icon with a musical note opens iTunes, a program for listening to music and watching videos. Icons also perform an action, usually when you click on them or double-click on them, they will open up the application, file or folder that they represent.
