Customizing your desktop
As you have learned, this background area is known as your desktop. You can customize it many different ways. The most obvious way is to change your background picture. Your computer will come with a background image but you can change it to any of the built in pictures or one of your own. In addition to the background picture you can also change the view and size of the type and icons on your desktop. For example, let’s say I want to change the size of my icons, first I make sure that I am in the Finder, then I go to the View menu, click on it, and then select Show View Options from the pull-down menu. A new window pops up and you can select the size of the icon you want. We will get into the many ways to customize your desktop later. But for now, just understand that your computer can be exactly that, YOURS, however you want it to be!
